OPEN CASTING LABS.
JUNE 2025
In our third year, we are launching Open Casting Labs as opportunities to build relationships with performers who may join us for upcoming and future projects.
TheatreGoose is an award-winning collective making bold new work that is gripping, epic in scale and driven by immersive design, dynamic physicality, and experimental text. After launching professionally in 2023, we now regularly work with venues such as Summerhall and Theatre Royal Plymouth, and we have two critically acclaimed shows in repertoire, HER GREEN HELL and SISTERS THREE, which are shortly to be joined by a third - AETHER - a new show about physics, illusion, and the unknown.
For AETHER, debuting at Summerhall for the Edinburgh Festival 2025, we are casting 2 female identifying performers. They will join company members Sophie Kean and Abby McCann in a multi-roling ensemble cast of 4. This is a paid role for six weeks, including accommodation and travel expenses. Rehearsals for AETHER will take place in London, 14 - 25th July 2025, with tech, previews, and performances running between 28th July - 26th August 2025.

The deadline for the first round of Labs for AETHER has passed. However, we will be announcing further Lab dates in September as we also have a number of undisclosed future projects for which we will be seeking a diverse range of performers, so performers of any gender identity are warmly and strongly encouraged to attend these Labs.

We are excited to meet performers who are:
★ Interested in learning how we make our shows.
★ Eager to engage with our body of work.
★ Galvanised by our methods, approaches, and attitude towards our work.

We are looking for performers who:
★ Have a strong propensity for movement and physical theatre.
★ Enjoy working with new and mutable text.
★ Display the dexterity to make very ambitious work in a fast paced and collaborative environment.
A Casting Lab is not an audition or test, it is the beginning of a relationship with us. It may lead to to further conversations regarding specific projects, but will primarily aim to be a stimulating and productive experience for all so we can get to know you as performers, and just as importantly, you can get to know us.

These labs are typically 2.5 hours long, including movement work, ensemble building, and scene studies with TheatreGoose text. They do not require any preparation.

We hope to meet everyone who expresses interest in these Labs, and we cannot wait to meet and work with you.
